Working in China as a Chinese expat has given me the opportunity to understand Chinese women. There is also a stark difference between the girls in Shanghai and the ones from Beijing. It is so much easier for westerners to mingle or pick up a Chinese girl in Shanghai than one in Beijing. Shanghai girls believe they live in China’s No. 1 city and sometimes can be obnoxious, crude and straight to the point. Beijing girls tend to be more refined, cultured and well-mannered. Some may disagree but being an overseas Chinese myself, I have seen the difference.

Interestingly, as an overseas Chinese born, bred and educated in the western world, my perception of Chinese women are what not you guys running dating sides make it out to be. The Chinese women whom prefers westerners and that include overseas Chinese like myself are invariably the ones who understand and can converse in basic English. They are smart enough to know what they want. They have a perception of a better life abroad, that goes with maintenance and good living. A Chinese girl will not want someone from overseas who has nothing materialistic to offer. On the contrary, the ones whom will look after their men are the more traditional women that chooses to stay in China. Chinese women that opts out to leave the homeland are the ones expecting higher maintenance and a cushy life. Without the maintenance, don’t expect them to look after you. I have had many proposition and I think as an overseas Chinese, I stand a better chance than whites because I speak their language. However, I will never touch them even with a ten foot pole. They are simply too materialistic. Having generalize such traits, I must say there is always the odd one out. Without a command of the western language and in face of cultural differences, it is very, very tough for them to survive. However, being Chinese , no venture, no gain and by and large, Chinese women are not known to be patient.
